Kente is an indigenous textile originating from the Akan lands in Ghana, particularly the Ashanti tribe. It is popularly worn by Chiefs during festivals and other traditional and formal events in Ghana. As illustrated in the picture below, it is popularly worn during traditional Ghanaian marriage ceremonies.
A variety of Kente designs have been invented, several of which depict a specific concept or story.
